Christopher Nolan talks about Satyajit Ray's Pather Panchali

As we all know, Christopher Nolan just visited India over the Easter weekend. The genius director was in the country to continue his fight to preserve celluloid film. He also mentioned that he wanted to meet Indian filmmakers and get to know them, as the Indian film industry is one of the largest in the world.

Speaking about his visit to the press, he said, "I wanted to meet Indian filmmakers and learn more about India,” Nolan said. “I am looking forward to watching more Indian films in future. I have had the pleasure of watching Satyajit Ray’s ‘Pather Panchali’ recently, which I hadn’t seen before. I think it is one of the best films ever made. It is an extraordinary piece of work. I am interested in learning more about Indian film industry and that is the reason why I came.”

மும்பையில் ஃபிலிம் தொழில்நுட்பம் குறித்து, ஃபிலிம் ஹெரிட்டேஜ் பவுண்டேஷன் சார்பில் கருத்தரங்கிற்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. 3 நாட்கள் நடைபெறும் கருத்தரங்கில் பங்கேற்பதற்காக, பிரபல ஹாலிவுட் இயக்குநர் கிறிஸ்டோபர் நோலன் குடும்பத்துடன் இந்தியாவுக்கு வருகை புரிந்துள்ளார்.

மும்பையில் அவர் திரைப்பட பிரபலங்களை சந்தித்து உரையாடி வருகிறார். இந்த நிலையில் தனக்கு மிகவும் பிடித்த படம் குறித்த விவரங்களை அவர் சமீபத்தில் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டுள்ளார்.

அதில், ''சமீபத்தில் சத்யஜித் ரேயின் 'பதேர் பஞ்சாலி' திரைப்படம் பார்க்கும் வாய்ப்பு எனக்குக் கிடைத்தது. எப்பொழுதும் மிகச்சிறந்த படங்கள் பட்டியலில் கண்டிப்பாக இப்படத்துக்கு ஒரு இடமுண்டு. இந்தியப்படங்கள் குறித்து அறிந்து கொள்ளவே, நான் இந்தியா வந்துள்ளேன்' என்றார்.
