Pithamagan was among the pictures of director Bala that was received well. It starred Vikram, Suriya, Sangeetha and Laila in the lead and had music by Ilayaraaja. It even fetched Vikram a National award for Best Actor.

On the professional front, Suriya is engaged with a multitude of projects while Vikram is awaiting the release of Cobra, directed by R Ajay Gnanamuthu. Srinidhi Shetty of 'KGF' fame plays the female lead while AR Rahman scores music. Cricketer Irfan Pathan will be seen in a crucial role.
