NO NEW FILM RELEASES UNTIL THIS ISSUE IS SORTED OUT: BHARATHIRAJAA DROPS A SHOCKER
Home > Tamil Movies > Tamil Cinema NewsThe Tamil film industry’s standstill with VPF (Virtual Print Fee) continues. In a new official statement, veteran director Bharathirajaa, who’s the president of the newly formed Tamil Film Active Producers Association, has said that VPF fee won’t be given anymore since about 12 years of payment has already been done. The letter mentions that the VPF payment is on a weekly basis. The letter further says that this decision was taken by exhibitors and other media production companies.
The letter further says that they would only be able to remit a one-time payment to these digital companies for mastering, cloning and delivery. Theatre owners need to pay the lease vis-a-vis projection facilities. Producers can’t foot this bill.
The letter says that if the demands pertaining to VPF is not met, even if theatres reopen, they have been pushed to a position where they can’t screen their films.
Despite this decision being taken by almost 100 producers, digital companies are still insistent that we pay the VPF fee, the letter noted. The letter further mentions that not even one demand from their side has been accepted by the digital companies and the standstill will continue.
We need to wait and see as to what response the digital companies have in store for this decision of the active producers.
