Director Ram Gopal Varma’s latest, Disha Encounter, based on the gang-rape and murder of a veterinarian in Hyderabad last year, has courted trouble with the family of the victim moving the Telangana High Court against the film.
They alleged that the screening of the film is inappropriate as the case is still sub judice. However, the same was quashed by the court citing that it was premature.
Disha’s family has also approached the Centre, state government and Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to stop RGV from releasing the film.
All the four accused in the case were gunned down by the police in what has been alleged as extrajudicial killings.
