Jigarthanda is Karthik Subbaraj's second film in Kollywood and one of the most critically acclaimed films ever. The film was a hit and also fetched two national awards, best supporting actor for Bobby Simha and best editing for Vivek Harshan. It is a film which was tastefully done in all aspects and also introduced the genre of Musical-Gangster genuinely.
The film is remade in Telugu, titled 'Valmiki' directed by Harish Shankar starring Atharva in Siddharth's role, Varun Tej for Bobby Simha's and Pooja Hedge for Lakshmi Menon. This also marks Atharvaa's debut in Telugu cinema.
With the shooting ongoing, the latest update on the film is that they have announced the release date for the film on September 6th 2019. The team might have made a few changes to deliver to the Telugu audience.

The film is produced by Ram Achanta and Gopichand Achanta under the banner '14 Reels Entertainment'. Mickey J Meyer is composing the music for the film and Aynananka Bose is the DOP.
