Arunraja Kamaraj had also told that he hasn't worked in Vijay's Bigil as a lyricist. Arunraja had expressed his excitement over Bigil "I am excited to watch it visually. I had done a sports film with a lot of constraints, but in the case of Atlee, the restrictions are not there. I am interested to see his vision in terms of portraying a sport. As a sports film, the film will be inspiring and with Vijay sir's involvement, the visibility will be even bigger."

Written and directed by Atlee, Mersal stars actor Vijay and Nayanthara in the lead roles while Yogi Babu, Kathir, Jackie Shroff,Vivekh and others play crucial supporting roles. The film is slated for a Diwali release.
