Chennai Express is a Bollywood film directed by Rohit Shetty, that had Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. It also had Sathyaraj playing a crucial supporting role. The film performed extremely well at the box office all over the country.
The film had a song called Lungi Dance, sung by Yo-Yo Honey Singh, that was branded as a tribute to Superstar Rajinikanth. This didn't go well with a lot of Chennaiites because of the amount of stereotyping it had.
Standup Comedian Aravind SA uploaded a video about Lungi Dance on YouTube, last year and this was met with abuse and hatred from North Indians. So he decided to make a parody on the Lungi Dance song, to send across a message that stereotyping is not right.
The parody song is titled Chapathi song, and takes a dig on everything from Butter Naans to Amitabh Bachchan Fans to Shah Rukh Khan. It also has lines like "Don't take Thalaivar's name in Vain". This video has been going around viral since yesterday, May 18, by clocking around half-a-million views within 24 hours.
This song was a part of Aravind SA's first one-hour special show, Madrasi Da, that dealt with the stereotypes that a person from Chennai faces on an everyday basis. Catch the viral song below:
