ANUSHKA SHETTY-MADHAVAN STARRER SILENCE (TAMIL) TRAILER BREAKDOWN: FILM HAS EVERYTHING GOING FOR IT

The very first shot of the trailer begins with Anushka and Maddy - two tall, good-looking people - a step in the right direction.  One must admit that "Devasena" puts up a sprightly performance in the trailer, throughout, but comes across a bit jaded.

We had been all along thinking that Maddy plays a visually challenged person in the film. It doesn't seem to be the case or maybe we'd have to wait and see.

The trailer begins with the typical "haunted house", "paintings" and jump-scares. Anushka plays a mute artist whose best friend (Shalini Pandey) goes missing. Shalini's disappearance and the circumstances surrounding the same adds intrigue.

You also have an American cop Richard Dawkins thrown in who like most stereotypical American cops oozes sarcasm in every syllable. As far as histrionics is considered, he seems to be a tad over the top.

Anjali as a cop is terrific as well, however, is more at ease with the local language than spouting the English lines. The musical score is just and haunting while the cinematography is top-notch as well and pleasing to the eyes, a feat considering the genre.

All in all, Silence has everything going for it to await its OTT release.
