Akshay Kumar received his first National Award for Rustom. On May 3rd, 2017, the much-expected event National Award was held at Delhi and it witnessed a star-studded event. Ever since the National Awards were announced early last month, there has been a debate with a few choices of awards.

Akshay Kumar who was named Best Actor for Rustom was surely on the controversy with a majority strongly disagreed with the nomination. Finally, on May 3rd, 2017, Akshay Kumar walked to the event and received the prestigious National Award from President Pranab Mukherjee.

Akshay Kumar also expressed his joy through a tweet. He tweeted, 'No words can do justice to the joy I feel at this moment...sharing with you all my first ever #NationalFilmAward!Thank you for the love.'
