Ajith's Viswasam directed by Siruthai Siva and produced by Sathyajothi Thyagarajan released on Jan 10th amidst huge expectations among fans as it was almost more than a year their last film Vivegam got released in 2017. Ajith's 4th time association with director Siva and the response to the songs and trailer built a good overwhelming response for the release.
Another interesting point about the release timing is Viswasam was clashing with another biggie, Rajinikanth's Petta. This has been the mother of a clash in recent times and fans were eagerly looking forward to the response of both the films. Viswasam opened to a great response from fans and importantly the family audiences. The star cast that includes Nayanthara, Vivek, Yogi Babu, Robo Shankar and the emotional packaging of the film by Director Siva has largely helped the film with a positive word of mouth across the state. Reports from B & C centers have been super positive and it is going to be an interesting scenario at the BO till Thursday, the long Pongal festival holidays.
In Chennai, Viswasam opened up well in about 429 shows last weekend and collected around Rs 3.94 Crores in 4 days. It's a very good collection with tough competition at the BO. The performance has got Viswasam, a Grand Opening verdict at the Chennai BO. This report is generated by Behindwoods Box Office wing. These details are not shared by the producers, distributors or theater owners who cannot be held responsible for the collection figures listed. There might be variations from the exact collection details.
The buzz is though Viswasam has lesser Chennai BO collections compared to Petta at the Chennai BO, its Tamil Nadu collections are said to be higher than Petta, as Viswasam seem to be attracted more by the family audiences. The Tamil Nadu Box Office collections are expected soon today.
