"TILL AASAI, I DIDN'T THINK OF CONTINUING IN FILMS" - AJITH’S 21 YEAR OLD INTERVIEW
Home > Tamil Movies > Tamil Cinema NewsAjith Kumar now comes across as a recluse, but there was a time when he wasn’t averse to meeting the media despite having small troubles with what was being written about him by a few. In a throwback interview given to Shobha Warrier of Rediff, just post the release of SJ Suryah’s Vaali and preceding the release of Saran’s Amarkalam co-starring Shalini who would later become his wife (Amarkalam was incidentally his 25th film as well), he had spoken about a few things including his interest in films. It might be better to hear from the horse’s mouth directly.
“Till my sixth film, Aasai, I did not even think of continuing in films. I just wanted to clear my debts so that I could start my business all over again. After Aasai became a big hit, I thought, 'This time I am not going to let it go'. See, I tried to pursue NCC, I couldn't. Next came cricket. That also did not happen. Then, motor racing. I couldn't do whatever I wanted to. But I met with a very serious accident after my first film. And that put an end to motor racing too, my passion,” he was quoted as saying on his chosen career.
Cut to present, he and Shalini are in a perfect relationship that has clocked 20 glorious years and are parents to two wonderful children - Anoushka and Aadvik.
Fresh from the success of Nerkonda Paarvai, Ajith has Valimai in his kitty, which is from the same director-producer of his previous film NP - H Vinodh and Boney Kapoor, respectively.
