Cameroon based saxophone artist Manu Dibango succumbed to Coronavirus. The musician is known for his hit single Soul Makossa.
Dibango, aged 86, breathed his last on March 24, and the information was posted on his official Facebook page. The saxophonist has collaborated with several legendary performers such as Herbie Hancock, Peter Gabriel, Angélique Kidjo and Sinead O'Connor.
Several fellow artistes and musicians paid their condolences to Dibango. South African actress Lesley Ann-Brandt wrote, "Damn. What an incredible loss. #ManuDibango Rest In Peace King."
Grammy-nominated saxophone artist Gerald Albright said, "Fly high on your new journey. Your musical contributions will be honored and remembered. #ManuDibango was a great saxophonist from Cameroon. Rest in heaven."
