Popular actress Nanjil Nalini passed away yesterday afternoon, on the 19th of January 2020 at Chennai. Members of South Indian Film Artistes' Association, SIFAA, have offered their deepest condolences for this tragical loss of a talented artist.
According to their press release SIFAA have mentioned that their senior member Nanjil Nalini's death is a most depressing incident. She was born in Thuckalay (Thakkalai) in Kanyakumari District and started acting at the age of 12. Her first venture was in theatre at the age of 12, and her debut role consisted of her playing mother to 4 heros.
In the film industry, her debut happened in 1969 P Madhavan directorial "Enga Oor Raaja". She also acted in many Sivaji Ganesan's movies such as "Annan Oru Koil", "Theerpu" which helped demonstrate her acting skills to the world. After films, her entry into serials made her a familiar face in the household, and serials like Mandhira Vaasal, Achcham Madam Naanam, Brindhavanam, Soolam are some of her projects in the small screen. She was awarded Kalaimamani award by Tamil Nadu Government in 1978. Her death is an irreplaceable loss to the Film, theatre fraternity and she is deeply mourned by her collegues, friends, family, and her fans, as noted in SIFAA Press release.
