Popular film personality and founder of the political outfit, Makkal Needhi Maiam, Kamal Haasan recently visited the family of deceased 23-year old techie Subashri, who fell victim to a fatal accident caused by the fall of a political hoarding. The unfortunate incident happened on Thursday.
After leaving the house, Kamal Haasan interacted with the media and expressed his grief. He said "I am at a loss of words in order to offer them condolences and console them (Subashri's parents). My humble request (to the media) is to not turn the parents' sorrow into anger."
Kamal Haasan urged everyone to refrain themselves from passing harsh and hurting remarks on the issue and condemned those statements that blamed the victim for the incident. He added that "The removal of banners for a single day will not suffice. This practice must be stopped and if it doesn't, the people will stop it and Makkal Needhi Maiam will stand by their side."
Kamal Haasan added that on his party's behalf, he will ensure that his party does not keep hoarding in public places, adding that his party had never used banners in the past. He said "Not only politicians, I also urge fans of the film industry not to indulge in such practices. This is a friendly order and not a request and I hope they will consider it."
Regarding the ongoing police procedure on the issue, he said that it is wrong to have not arrested the perpetrator yet. He added that the people won't tolerate the delay of justice to the victim and the ones responsible for this act cannot hide for a longer period of time.
