Dhanush's Vada Chennai, directed by Vetri Maaran is having a very good run at the box office with a striking opening. The film also opened up to positive reviews from the critics.
A section of people from the fishermen community expressed that a few sequences in Vada Chennai hurt their emotions and sentiments. Reacting to those allegations, director Vetri Maaran clarified that the team never intended to hurt anyone's sentiment. He also added that the first night sequence between Ameer and Andrea that takes place in the boat will be deleted from the film, as per the request.
Vetri Maaran, in his latest video statement said, "A few people from the Fishermen community registered that a particular set of scenes from Vada Chennai is hurting their sentiments. Our intention was never to hurt anyone or their personal emotions/sentiments. At any given day, we wouldn't want to degrade an organisation or a set of people and make profits out of it, through the medium of cinema. We would never do that.
They pointed out a few scenes that portray their community on the bad light and one of the scenes, especially, is the first night sequence that happens between Ameer and Andrea in a boat. As per their request, we have decided to remove that scene from the film. We have sent the cut version to the Censor Board and they will give us an approval very soon. The said scene will be removed within the next 7 - 10 working days.
Once again, I'd like to stress on the point that we never intended to portray the people of any community in a bad light. In fact, the second and third parts of Vada Chennai will showcase the rise of youngsters from North Madras, who achieve big in various fields. If any of the scenes in the film had hurt anyone, we wholeheartedly apologize for the same."
