120 primetime shows for Bengali films in West Bengal

The State Government of West Bengal has now asked Cinema halls and multiplexes in the state to mandatorily screen on Bengali film for a minimum of 120 days in a year.

Governor K N Tripathi latest order states, "In every cinema hall and in at least one screen of every multiplex situated in the state, 120 primetime show/screenings of Bengali films shall mandatorily be held throughout the year, with at least one show per day for minimum of 120 days in aggregate during the year."

The sole reason for this act is to promote Bengali cinema which is dominated by other language films in the recent past. The Government of Karnataka had implemented a similar rule in their state very recently.
