74 years ago the legend was born

India's foremost exponents of music, the classical legend and the Carnatic music maestro, Kattassery Joseph Yesudas, is turning 74 years today.

Popularly known and recognized for his playback singing, KJ Yesudas started his career with the song Jaathi Bhedam Matha Dwesham in 1961 which he sings even now in many of his concerts. He began his playback singing in films in the 60s and has sung in many languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

He has sung songs that fought for unity in diversity. He sings regularly at temples, churches and courtyards bringing all kinds of people under one roof.
