Yennai Arindhaal shortened considerably

Yennai Arindhaal is one of the most talked about movies this week and theaters are flooding with back to back shows. Though there is an immense positive response from most, there are many posts and tweets by viewers who feel that the first half was slightly dragging.

 

A quick response from the team on the runtime of the film is that the first half is set to be shortened by 6 minutes. The 1st half would now be 81 minutes and the 2nd half, 82 minutes, making the film an overall 163 minutes long.

 

Of late, post-release edits have become the industry's way to respond to early public reviews and most recently other films like Lingaa and Isai, have also shortened their lengths post-release. Is this a worrying trend?
