IT'S MY GAME - SURIYA

A teaser or a trailer of any film should be cut in such a way so as to incite the curiosity levels of the audience and make them pay THAT visit to the theatre. If a team checks this box in, then half the battle is won. And Venkat Prabhu’s Masss (with an extra third S-perhaps for his 6^th film?!) fits the bill perfectly on this count.

‘From the guy who gave you a film, a movie, a holiday, a game and a diet’ comes his ‘sixer’, begins the teaser which is quite a riot in itself and opens with Suriya’s extraordinary voice with a hit phrase from Mankatha Ajith-It’s my f&*^* game.  

A panoramic shot of a blue green beach with a lone Suriya, a spooky godown, beautiful castles, adrenaline rushing action blocks, a car with a Bulgarian number plate and Suriya in a Quebec police avatar clearly tell you the ride that the audience will be taking.

Adding to that Nayantara and Pranitha ‘color’ing the frames, Parthiban’s teasing tone of investigation and Premji’s typical voice suggesting a paranormal activity in the house are all brought in with editor Praveen doing his job well and the mood accentuated by Yuvan’s fitting BGM.

With Suriya signing off the eighty four second teaser with a throaty ominous laughter with those protruding eerie teeth, it sure appears that Masss IS going to be a different journey for both Suriya and the audience.

If the teaser is some peek into what’s to come, Venkat Prabhu’s Masss seems to have all the elements for a perfect entertainer- action, suspense, thrill, romance, humor and the most topical and successful premise of all-the AMANUSHYAM!!
