AFTER NADUVULA KONJAM PAKKATHA KAANOM...

Director Balaji Tharaneetharan of Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom fame is working on his next film Oru Pakka Kadhai (OPK) with debutants Kalidas (Jayaram’s son) and Megha. The film is in its post production phase now and will soon hit the marquee.

There is a long gap after NKPK and Balaji states that he was working on another script in the interim which he would be taking up later on. ‘Pakkam’ seems to be common in both the titles. When asked, Balaji says it was just a coincidence and that how the title NKPK was apt for that story, OPK also would be suitable for the current storyline which will be understood once we get to see the film.

Balaji further states that OPK is not a comedy genre, but is based on drama. But won’t the audience be expecting a comedy film from Balaji especially after NKPK? He says, “As long as my content is good and I convey the genre through the posters and trailer, and my film is interesting, I don’t think people are going to be disappointed because it is not a comedy”.

On choosing Kalidas and Megha, he says, “I wanted a hero who should look like a college student with shades of innocence but with the beginning of manhood. That’s when I saw Kalidas’ mimicry show on TV and then approached Jayaram and finalized him. Parthiban sir’s daughter Keerthana referred Megha”.

Post production work on OPK is going on now with the music release in November. Govind Menon of Thaikkudam Bridge band, popular in Kerala, is the music director. Auraa Cinemas have acquired the theatrical release rights of the film.
