A DAY DEDICATED TO A LEGENDARY COMBO

Composer M.S.Viswanathan and late lyricist Kannadasan are the emperors of a dynasty that reigns the hearts of the audience till date. The numerous songs in their combination are anthems to many listeners. Today (June 24), MSV sir celebrates his 87th birthday while it is also Kannadasan's 88th birth anniversary.

From the song, Kamban Yemandhan in Nizhal Nijamagiradu to Oru Kopeyilae En Kudi Iruppu in Ratha Thilagam, 'Kaviarasu' Kannadasan has communicated his personal thoughts and his way of life through the characters in the film. When these lyrics are closely observed, they carry a message directly from the poet without disturbing the character that mouths the lyrics onscreen. He had an untimely demise at the age of 54!

M.S.Viswanathan has been in this industry for more than six decades. The 'Mellisai Mannar' (King of Melody) has made his mark even through his on-screen presence in many flicks. Undoubtedly his 'Muruga Muruga' dialogue in Kadhala Kadhala is evergreen. We just hope that the Indian government wakes up to his towering presence and bestows him with a Padma Award atleast now.

With such stalwarts, we cannot wish them but just bow down to them on this special day.
