MOHANLAL'S KANAL AN ADAPTATION OF A HOLLYWOOD FILM?

The trailer of Mohanlal's upcoming thriller Kanal is out and amongst all the excitement over the film, the trailer has already brought about speculation whether the film has been inspired by the Hollywood classic Strangers on a Train. 

 

Although the trailer suggests very little about the film's storyline, perhaps all this speculation has to do with the basic premise of two strangers meeting on a train and the trailer also suggests that revenge and murder are on the cards. Many have mentioned that the plot feels quite similar to the English film because of these factors.

 

Also to be remembered is that Strangers on a Train has already been adapted in Tamil as Muran, starring actor-director Cheran and Prasanna in the lead.

 

Now, we wait for the film's release to put all these speculations to rest. Kanal is directed by M. Padmakumar and has been scripted by S. Suresh Babu. The film also stars Anoop Menon, Atul Kulkarni, Pratap Pothen, Honey Rose and Nikita Thukral.
