Ilayathalapathy Vijay, fondly also referred as the 'King of Chennai' in his early days, commands a huge fan following among the student community both in schools and colleges. With his upcoming 'Kaththi' caught in controversies surrounding its producers Lyca Productions' alleged involvement with the Sri Lankan government, the students from some prominent colleges across Chennai city have reportedly taken a pledge to support Vijay, come what may.

Vijay has always been vocal in his support for Sri Lankan Tamils and even recently he voiced his protest against the Sri Lankan government for posting a defamatory message against the Tamil Nadu CM. His consistent support for Tamils has earned him this love and wholehearted support from the budding student community, one feels.
