Billa 2, Sivaji, Arrambam, Thalaivaa and the trend continues

Film stars' birthdays are celebrated with much fervor in our state. Each star commands a loyal fan following and their birthdays are generally marked by charitable activities and other festivities. 

 

Over the past few years, producers and directors have also been doing their part in adding extra spice and gaining more mileage from the birthdays of our favorite stars. Music releases, trailer / teaser launches and in some cases even films are released to coincide with a star's birthday. We take a look at few such special star birthdays. 

 

1st May 2012 - Ajith's Billa 2 had its music released amid gargantuan hype and expectations. The songs went on to become chartbusters ahead of the film's release.

 

12th December, 2012 - To add more grandeur to Superstar Rajini's birthday, a 3D version of his blockbuster, Sivaji The Boss, was released to rousing response from the Superstar's fans over the release weekend.

 

1st May 2013 - Ajith's then untitled movie with Vishnuvardhan (which later became the superhit Arrambam) had its teaser released on the midnight of May 1 and upped the excitement levels of Ajith fans even more. "Title Innum Vekkala" became a much spoken line in the days and weeks to come, thanks to the teaser's impact.

 

21st June 2013 - A day ahead of Ilayathalapathy Vijay's birthday, Thalaivaa had its music and trailer released in a grand event. The music and trailer ruled the internet on Vijay's birthday and the trailer went on to be one of the most viewed videos in recent times.

 

3rd February 2014 - Young Superstar Simbu's birthday was made that much more interesting thanks to the teaser of his upcoming movie with Gautham Menon and A.R.Rahman. A teaser of one of the songs from Vaalu was also released as a birthday treat to STR fans.
