Atul Kulkarni, will be best remembered for his role in Run and Hey Ram for which he received the National Award. The Marathi actor who comes from a theatre background is back in Tamil cinema playing an important role in Arivazhagan’s Vallinam.

The film that stars Nakul in the lead has Atul playing a basketball coach that the players really look up to. He feels that as an actor one needs to take chances and that’s what he’s done in this film. He had a special word for the film’s lead Nakul who he called a bundle of energy.

Talking about his association with Tamil films and the opportunity to have worked with Kamal Haasan early on,  he says that nothing can beat having Kamal Haasan as your first teacher.  He was also thankful to the Tamil audience for graciously accepting him and his performances.
