Vashu
Bhagnani the super producer
is launching his ‘once
Overweight now a Hunk’
son Jackky Bhagnani in the new
movie Kal Kissne Dekha. The
movie was majorly affected by
the strike caused by the rift
between Multiplex and Distributors
and is now the first big movie
to be released after the strike.
Vashu Bhagnani left no stones
unturned in launching his son
as he had spent more than 20
crores on producing and more
crores in the marketing campaign
planned throughout the strike
to sustain the interest of the
viewers. Will this risk taken
by the super daddy be useful
for making beta Jackky a superstar?
The major question in everyone’s
mind was, whether Jackky will
do a Hrithik or a Harman. And
after finishing the movie we
had to say Jackky surely has
done a Harman. The movie has
its captivating moments but
those are very few and very
far apart.

The story is about simple Nihal Singh, who
has the power to see the future. He comes
to Mumbai from Chandigarh to do his PG and
falls in love with the Meesha, a spoilt
rich girl. After quite a while Meesha does
fall for Nihal’s charm and then comes
out the twist. When Nihal’s power
goes public, a terrorist gang tries to utilize
his power of science to their benefit. Will
Nihal and Meesha’s life be the same
again? If you really can’t guess the
answer and wants the answer for this question
so desperately then go to the theatres near
you but make it quick, as you might very
well have just 6 more days to do that.
How can Vashu Bhagnani be so blinded by
his love for his son that he has given a
go ahead to such a shoddy script? Is it
a romantic movie? A comedy? A thriller?
A campus Jollyride? A drama? Or an action?
Maybe the director Vivek Sharma was so confused
and unable to decide on which genre to choose,
made a mix of all and gave us a cocktail,
so sad that it tastes so bad. The director
has made a story where the hero knows Karate,
boxing, motor-bike riding, singing, dancing
and is a science wiz too but they are still
not content with it, they gave him the power
which all the actors in Bollywood recently
seem to possess, the power to see the future/past.
Too bad all the two which tried this in
the past 4 months have bombed at the box-office
and this might also be joining the list
but future is something which can’t
be predicted. After all, Kal Kissne Dekha?
There are a few scenes which are shot quite
well but majority of them are handled so
amateurishly that it seems to be just an
expensive gift by a dad to his son. Lack
of continuity is evident right through the
movie and the worst part of the enterprise
is its Climax. The few people in the theatre
who survived till the end started laughing
at the Climax; such was the state of the
movie.
Technically the movie is very good with
some good clean cinematography by Jhonny
Lal. His work, especially in Tere Bina song
is laudable. The movie has some foot tapping
numbers thanks to Sajid –Wajid, but
nothing which is of a chartbuster material.
Editing by Sanjay Verma seems to be good
in patches with some of the transitions
being utterly disturbing. The production
values are quite lavish and that is something
which we can’t point our fingers at,
so is the Choreography by Remo. Dialogues
are again amateurish and the stunts are
pathetic and needed some camera tricks to
look at least semi-decent.
Performance wise the movie has very little
to boast of, even though there are many
well known stars acting in the movie. Jackky
Bhagnani needs to work on his dialogue delivery
and his body language but in many scenes
his acting is cute, not good but cute. He
dances well but looks out of place in action
sequences. Vaishali Desai hams big time,
she looks ravishing though. Farida Jalal
and Sathish Shah are wasted. Archana Puran
Singh does a cameo as the Hero’s mom
and cracks one up quite easily, clearly
a talent which is under utilized. Ritesh
Deshmukh comes as a comic relief and is
quite successful in extracting some laughter.
Rishi Kapoor should have definitely said
a big no to this movie as such a brilliant
actor is wasted in this role, but still
he does the given job perfectly. Juhi Chawla
and Sanjay Dutt give a special appearance.
We might not posses the same power as the
hero to see the future and save millions
(guess Papa dearest also doesn’t have
that power), but with the little powers
we do have we would want to save those few
thousands who have scheduled to go for this
movie this weekend by asking them to think
again and if you still decide to go for
it, then stop thinking all together.
Verdict:
Kal Kaun Dekhega?
