Politician, people in power or the corrupt system trying to play with the Aam Aadmi stories have been dealt with before. Some come in a comedy genre like Khosla ka Ghosla & Well done Abba , some thrillers like A Wednesday and some action like Hindustani. This one too tries to be a political sattire on bureaucratic mess, Red tapism and corruption. But unfortunately its a great idea on paper but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. It just feels half baked. The story is about Bharat(Akshaye Khanna) who is a Bank cashier and also acts in the local Ram leela play as Hanuman. All hell(read table fan) breaks loose when he denies a small room in his ancestral property for a political capaign of a local candidate(Murli Sharma), incidentally his brother Munna(Amit Mistry) plays Ram in the same Ram Leela play not due to his acting skills but through influence. Bharat life will never be the same again but every man has a breaking point. Its definitely an attempt at a symbolic satire on today's state of affairs. But Rumy Jaffry's try to put an 'Office Office' kind of a premise in a larger stage trying to symbolize the common Man as the entire country just doesn't work. A proper fight back would have been a welcome change rather than stopping at a place where the common man decides to hit back. Khosla ka Ghosla and Well done Abba did that and found great success. Unnecessary sub plots and a forced Item number doesn't help the cause either. A script puts forth a well paced first half only to slow down drastically in the second. Why didnt Bharat try to dump the table fan in his road side waste bin will always be a mystery. But there are several well executed scenes as well like the scene where Bharat decides not to complain when his motor pump gets stolen. The movie dies belong to Akshaye Khanna and such roles are cake walk for this talented actor. This isn't a challenging role but he still impresses with a flawless performance. After long time Satish Kaushik and Annu Kapoor gets a great role and they impress you from the word go. Mughda Godse and Shriya Saran look good on screen but why where they even there? The rest of the cast have done what's expected of them without overacting. Technically the movie doesn't stand out, with run of a mill Cinematography, decent editing, bad music but believable art direction. If only the bgm was a bit more dynamic the impact could have been better. Overall the movie is a comical satire which clicks in parts but a noble thought has to be backed by a great script which is where the movie falters.
Verdict: Great idea but mediocre execution
