director Gaurav’s creation ‘Thoonga
nagaram’ is a gangster film with Vimal,
Bharani, Nishanth and Anjali in the lead
roles. It is a debut production by Dhayanidhi
Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies.
Quite appropriate to the title, ‘Thoonga
nagaram’ is set in Madurai, the city
that never sleeps and its adjoining areas.

Madurai
based gangsters. The story revolves around happenings
in Madurai city involving the lead four. Madurai is
a city that values friendship and has the script breezing
through four youngsters who are involved in a killing
and are in a situation where anyone could get killed
if caught. Here goes the story of sleepless moments
of these four thereafter fearing death.
Pasanga and Kalavani fame Vimal plays the hero in this
movie along with ‘Naadodigal’ fame Bharani
and ‘Renigunta’ Nishanth in key roles. Anjali
plays the female lead along with the trio. Director
Gaurav, a former associate of KS Ravikumar himself dons
an important role along with other supporting actors,
Arunkumar, Singampuli and Madhumitha. The highlight
of this film is that Minister MK Azhagiri will appear
in a cameo role.
Music is by Sundar C. Babu, who made his debut in Chithiram
Pesudhadi. ‘Kooraana Paarvai’ and ‘Thoonga
nagaram’ are the two songs creating flutter. Thoonga
nagaram should be absolutely grand to watch in the set
created worth Rs. 50 lakhs erected in the river depicting
Chithirai Thiruvizha festival, a yearly divine extravaganza
in Madurai. Cinematography is by Vijay Ulaganathan,
a former associate of KV Anand. The co-producer for
the film is Vivek Rathinavelu, production supervision
by K Sundararaj and executive production by Sushanth.
Will the tale about the ‘city that never sleeps’
give us sleepless nights? Will this yet another Madurai
story leave an impression on viewer’s minds? Wait
