movie, the young
man with loads of
attitude and no
fear at all. If
the title is not
enough, then the
trailer should surely
be and you couldn’t
have missed those
action packed frenetic
trailers that have
been doing the rounds
for over a week
now on the SUN Network.
In case you are
wondering why the
SUN Network are
so interested in
this one, it is
because they have
bought Thenavattu.
This will be SUN
Picture’s
second release after
Kadhalil Vizhunden. |

Thenavattu
has been directed
by V.V. Kathir.
Jeeva is certainly
the USP of
the movie.
He will be
on screen
for the first
time in 2008
after a mixed
2007 where
he had the
hugely appreciated
Kattradhu
Tamil, Rameshwaram-
the movie
that threatened
to be a trendsetter
but went down
as another
clichéd
romance and
the commercial
Pori which
could not
hold on. But
what Jeeva
has earned
himself over
the 3 years
since Ram
is that of
a conscientious
actor who
chooses carefully
and puts script
before self.
Now, the trailer
of Thenavattu
have suggested
that we have
a very formulaic
fare on hand
with fights
and songs
galore.
Even
during the
making of
the film,
a fight sequence
for which
an entire
hamlet was
erected at
the cost of
around 50
lakhs had
made some
news. The
fight was
shot for nearly
15 days and
reportedly
has Jeeva
going alone
against 25
men. This
is not the
stuff you
have come
to associate
with Jeeva
but he is
an actor who
can pull things
off quite
well. |

Music
for the masses is
another selling
point of the movie.
As pointed out in
the official music
review, Srikanth
Deva does seem to
have done well with
Na. Muthukumar handling
the lyrics for all
five songs. The
‘Usulampatti
Sandhayile’
number has caught
on quite well and
is acting as the
fulcrum in the trailers
along with Jeeva’s
fiery dialogues
and action. This
Friday, Thenavattu
gets to theaters
and we get to see
the commercial avatar
of Jeeva. We liked
him in Ram, we liked
him in Kattradhu
Tamil, will we like
him in Thenavattu?
Well, we’ll
know by the weekend. |
