Panjamirtham,
sort of, announces
the reentry
of mainstream
children-movie
genre in Tamil
cinema. The
movie is based
on the popular
children sitcom
Maayavi Mareesan
that was telecast
in a popular
television
channel few
years ago.
The interesting
plot tells
what happens
if the mythological
characters
from the Ramayana
visits the
humans in
present time.
With immense
scope for
animation
and graphics,
Panjamirtham
also has an
impressive
star cast
including
Prakash Raj,
Jayaram, Samiksha,
Saranya Mohan
and Arvind.
This doesn’t
include the
whole bunch
of waywardly
kids who are
peppered all
over the movie.
Panjamirtham’s
timing couldn’t
have been
better. Releasing
in the holiday
season, half-yearly
holidays,
Christmas
and New Year,
is a clever
marketing
strategy that
could prove
fruitful for
the movie’s
opening.
