Sridevi could not have asked for a better comeback vehicle. The kind of buzz surrounding English Vinglish, directed by Gauri Shinde is proof that Sridevi's comeback is much anticipated. Besides, the role of a middle class housewife couldn't suit anyone else as good as it does Sridevi (remember, her successful act in a similar role in Judaai?).

Armed with a what-looks-like-an-endearing-story about a housewife's struggle in the English speaking world and coping with her increasingly snooty teenage kids, Sridevi plays Shashi, a Maharashtrian housewife, who enrolls in English classes to cope with her family's English speaking desires, a character that is inspired from director Shinde's mother.

English Vinglish is a bilingual and will also mark Sridevi's comeback in Tamil after more than two decades. A Telugu version is also on the cards. Sridevi remains the star attraction of the movie that also has a star cast of the French actor Mehdi Nebbou, Adil Hussain and Priya Anand in significant roles.

Notable also is the fact that Amitabh Bachchan plays a cameo in the Hindi version and Ajith does the same in the Tamil version of the movie. The trailers, as soon as they were released, became viral on the internet garnering thousands of hits on YouTube.

The movie was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and Sridevi's performance received good response from the audience. Produced by Hope Productions and IBC, the movie is distributed worldwide by Eros Internationals. English Vinglish will be in theatres this weekend.
