Those days are gone when you are spoilt for choices on a Diwali day with new releases. For this year Diwali, there are only two films releasing: 7aum Arivu and Velayutham. And if you considered SRK’s Ra.One, which is being dubbed and released in Tamil that makes it 3. But the maximum excitement is reserved for 7aum Arivu. The expectations levels have soared sky high, as it were, and the buzz surrounding the movie is palpable.
Murugadoss – Suriya team’s second movie 7aum Arivu is a sci-fi thriller. Their Gajini was a superhit and even went ahead and got made in Hindi. Although it’s speculated to be loosely inspired from Christopher Nolan’s Inception (whose Memento served as an inspiration for Gajini), Murugadoss says 7aum Arivu is about a Buddhist monk who lived in the 6th Century. The movie connects the story of the Buddhist monk to a man in the 21st century.
Widely shot in India and China, Murugadoss is said to have explored Bodhidharma, Zen Buddhism and the Pallava kingdom in this ambitious project. Suriya is touted to be playing two roles in the movie and from what the posters show us, his makeovers for the movie are likely to be nothing less than jaw dropping.
This is also Murugadoss’s Tamil film in 5 years. After Gajini he went to Bollywood. In the meanwhile, he also launched his production company and produced the sleeper hit Engeyum Eppodhum which was released recently.
Shruti Haasan plays Suriya’s female lead in her first Tamil movie. There is also the Vietnamese actor Johnny Tri Nguyen playing a pivotal role in the movie. Harris scores for the movie which are already chartbusters. Produced and distributed by Red Giant movies, the movie’s advance bookings have been sold out.
Murugadoss, in a recent interview said that he hoped his Tamil fans will enjoy the film. We hope so too.
