His Thambi Vettothi Sundaram did not perform well at the box office but Karan is not someone to let that bog him down. Kandha is directed by Babu K Vishwanath and is about a youngster, played by Karan presumably, in search of his mentor. Karan plays an NRI who is successful abroad. He suddenly feels the urge to meet his mentor and comes to India in search of him.
The movie revolves around its lead character and also touches upon a bit of political drama on its way. It also focuses on the land grabbing incidents prevalent in Tamil Nadu. Another movie that focused on the same was Kanthasamy. Is it any wonder that Kandha is short for Kanthasamy?
Mithra plays Karan’s female lead and Bose plays a gruesome villain, who is also a land grabber. The movie is scored by Sakthi R. Selva. Owing to its nature, the movie is touted to have many fight sequences. One of which was shot recently on a bridge in Thanjavur and is said to be the highlight of the movie.
Kandha’s release will be crucial for Karan’s career as a lead man ever since he started focusing only on lead roles with movies like Kokki and Karuppusamy Kuththagaithaarar.
