Kadhalna
Summa Illa, the
title is a statement
on love and the
guess is that the
movie too will be
along similar lines.
However, the movie
deals both with
love and friendship
and about what comes
first. Two heroes,
Sarvanand from the
Telugu industry
and Ravikrishna
and one lady lead,
Kamalinee Mukherjee
might suggest a
love triangle, but
that cannot be said
for certain. The
movie is a remake
of the early 2008
Telugu hit Gamyam
which also had Kamalinee
and Sarvanand in
the lead roles,
with appropriate
changes made for
the Tamil screen.
Naresh, the other
actor in the Telugu
original has been
replaced by Ravikrishna
here. |

The movie
has been directed
by Ilankannan,
earlier known
for action-suspense
flicks like
Arjun's Ottran.
Apart from
the lead three,
the movie
also features
Nasser, M.S.
Bhaskar, Ilavarasu
and Chitti
Babu. There
is also the
added attraction
of a Tejashree
item song.
Tejashree
seems to be
a lucky mascot
for Ilankannan
as he had
introduced
her in Ottran
with the hugely
popular 'Chinna
veeda…'
song.
Technically,
the movie
has men who
have apprenticed
under experienced
hands in Tamil
cinema. The
camera has
been handled
by Vincent,
former assistant
of P.C. Sreeram
and stunt
choreography
has been done
Chellam, a
former Peter
Hayne assistant.
But the highlight
here has to
be the music
department
which will
have 3 composers
scoring for
the same movie.
Vidyasagar,
Mani Sharma
and E.S. Murthy
have shared
the music
credits for
Kadhalna Summa
Illa and the
music that
is already
out on the
stands has
got its share
of limited
appreciation
but will depend
on how Ilankannan
has shot them.

For the audience,
Kadhalna Summa Illa
will be the first
time they will get
to see Kamalinee
Mukherjee after
the minor but memorable
cameo in Vattaiyaadu
Vilaiyaadu. She
reportedly has done
well, looks good
and has learnt Russian
ballet for a song
that is likely to
get noticed. Ravikrishna
too is said to have
worked hard on his
body language and
dialogue delivery.
Sarvanand's debut
too will be watched
closely.
Love and friendship
are themes that
are dealt with almost
every weekend in
cinema, but somehow
the freshness that
these themes imparts
never fades and
that is the reason
Kadhalna Summa Illa
has its chances,
if Ilankannan has
managed to get it
right.
