Ambitions
and attractions are the main
players in this story of a man
who wants to make it big at
any cost. The remake of Shah
Rukh Khan’s hit movie
Yes Boss, Guru En Aalu follows
Madhavan’s pursuits of
big success in his career. The
role of the aspiring young man
is one that was played to perfection
many times by SRK in the mid-nineties
and now Madhavan attempts to
do the same. Director Selva
said that it was SRK who recommended |

Madhavan
for the Yes Boss role when told about the
idea of a remake.
The aspiring youngster is not a new character
in Tamil cinema. But here, the young man
is not the straightforward honest guy. He
is a ‘hook or crook’ sort of
guy who toys with the idea of using his
boss’ (Abbas) attraction to a lady
in his office (Mamtha Mohandass) to leverage
his growth. The lady interestingly happens
to be Madhavan’s love interest too.
The story does definitely appear to be daringly
scandalous at times, but Yes Boss presented
the story in a mellow manner. It will be
interesting to see what Selva has done here.
Mamtha will be trying to nail her first
hit in Kollywood while recreating the role
played by Juhi Chawla in the original. Abbas
gets a role with potential after quite some
time and Brinda Parekh plays the wife of
Abbas in a role that has interesting bits
interspersed in the main narrative. There
are comedians galore in the cast with Vivek
in the lead playing a character called Asana
Andiappan. Apart from him, Mayilusaamy,
Manobala and M.S. Bhaskar complete the interesting
comedy line up.
Music by Srikanth Deva has not exactly become
a rage. The songs have reportedly been shot
in exotic locales and grand sets. All is
set for the movie’s release with the
censor passing it with a U/V.
Knowing the story of Guru En Aalu, it definitely
has the potential to earn at the box office. |
