Fresh from the critical acclaim he received for Deiva Thirumagal, Vikram seems to have decided to treat his fans with something light. So as to strike the perfect balance he always achieves in terms of his performance in movies. Rajapattai is an attempt at that. Directed by Suseenthiran, whose movies have all been hits commercially and critically, Rajapattai delves into the real estate mafia according to its director. Suseenthiran is directing Seenu's story, who has earlier worked with accomplished directors like Vasantha Balan.
Vikram plays the role of a carefree low-class fella, Anal Murugan, according to Suseenthiran. "You would not have seen Vikram like this in last 5 years," Suseenthiran adds evoking curiosity. According to him, Vikram has also appeared in 17 different getups. Vikram is joined by Deeksha Seth as his female lead with Shriya and Reema Sen making special appearances for a song titled 'Laddu Laddu'. Songs are composed by Yuvan, a Suseenthiran regular, with few of them already raiding the airwaves in Tamil Nadu. There are 5 songs in the album.
The movie is wrapped with a lot of entertainment to make Vikram fans and movie buffs happy, promises Suseenthiran. He recalls how he received a call one fine day from Vikram expressing his wish to work with him. "At that time, I did not have a script ready for him," Suseenthiran remembers. Then he bought Seenu's story and the project kick started and the shooting finished in 100 days flat. "We only took 5 months in all to finish the project in its entirety," he says.
Rajapattai also has veteran actor and director from the Telugu industry K Vishwanath, Pradeep Rawat, Avinash, Thambi Ramiah, Mithra Kurian and Mayilsamy. Produced by financier turned first time producer Prasad V Potluri for his PVP Cinemas banner, Rajapattai is made at a total budget of about 40 crores.
Distributed by Gemini Film Circuit, Rajapattai is releasing for the Christmas weekend. A Telugu version is also being released after a week, distributed by Suresh Movies.
