He reigned the silver screen for over two
decades with his inimitable movies. If 16
Vayathinile marked the beginning of Bharathiraja’s
spectacular career in Kodambakkam, movies
like Alaigal Oyvadillai, Mudhal Mariyadai,
and Kizhakku Seemayile sustained his position.
However, there has been a lack of his movies
in Tamil cinema in recent days.

His creator’s block seems to have eased off and
Bharathiraja is busy these days directing Nana Patekar
for the Hindi and Tamil versions of his ‘Bommalattam’.
Raja also has life-size plans to make a comeback. On the
cards is a promising script that focuses on a particular
ethnic group made outcast due to their classification
as ‘Kallars’ in the society during the British
Raj. Bharathiraja is busy researching details for the
same, it is learnt.
The movie, titled Kutraprambarai, is likely to hit the
floors after Bharathiraja’s commitments with Bommalattam
are over.
