Electrifying experience
in Ireland :
Hi
I would like to share the experience I had during the
screening of "Sivaji" at Dublin, Republic of
Ireland.I am doing my MBA at Dublin Business School and
never dreamt that I would be watching Thalaivar's Sivaji
in a theatre at Dublin that too the first day.
As far as I know this is the first time an Indian movie
has been screened first day in Ireland, thanks to the
efforts of two Tamilians Mr.Shivakumar & Mr.Srinivasan.
The ticket was priced at 19.50 Euros(Approximately 1050
Rupees). It was screened at UCI Cinemas, Tallaght. Most
of us traveled 25 miles to get a glimpse of our thalaivar.
The show was housefull. Before the film was screened the
trailer of 'Sultan', an animated movie featuring the superstar
in a different role similar to the one Tom Hanks played
in 'The Polar Express' was shown much to the delight of
the audience.
But once the film started diehard fans(including me) enthralled
the crowd with our traditional welcoming of thalaivar
Rajni on the screen. Never in the history of Ireland theatres,
could one have seen such an electrifying atmosphere for
any movie. Fans whistling, throwing papers on screen,
yelling and applauding each and every time thalaivar was
on screen. This should have been an unusual experience
for the Irish theatre operators. There were a few Europeans
who also watched the movie along with us and were taken
aback by our behavior.
In all it was an exciting and a special occasion for me.
Though I have watched several Rajni movies first day first
show in Chennai, never in my life have I come across this
sort of an experience. No wonder why Rajnikanth is such
a phenomenon.
