Last week, we came to know of a number of films being shortlisted for being the possible Indian entrant in the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar race. Now, Barfi has edged all these films out of the race and has been selected as the official Indian entrant by the Film Federation of India. It is just the beginning as now the producers UTV have to ensure that Barfi gets into the final shortlist of foreign language films, which Aamir Khan's Lagaan managed to do. This requires a lot of aggressive promotions to ensure that all the Academy members see their film and vote for it.
Mother India and Salaam Bombay were the other two Indian films to get into the final round. Barfi has also turned out to be UTV's 4th film in the last seven years to be selected as India's Oscar entrant following Rang De Basanti (2006), Harishchandrachi Factory (2009) and Peepli Live (2010).
All the very best to the team of Barfi as they make the efforts towards ensuring a place in the final shortlist.
