Telugu movies are slowly gaining prominence in Tamil Nadu with big star movies like Dookudu and Gabbar Singh raking in the moolah. Even the Telugu original of Naan Ee, Eega had a splendid run here. Julayi was another such winner.
Following the above mentioned movies, there is a fair bit of hype for Prabhas' next movie titled Rebel. This movie is directed by our very own Raghavendra Lawrence and stars the very popular Tamannah and Deeksha Seth opposite Prabhas.
The Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of this movie have been sold for 33 lakhs. This is a new record for Prabhas whose previous film was sold for just 11 lakhs here. The presence of Tamannah and Lawrence might have pushed the rates but it just proves the growing market for Telugu films in the state.
