Director K Balachander will receive today the most coveted award – the Dada Saheb Phalke Award – that is a dream for all those associated with films in India. In this awards distribution function to be held at the national capital Delhi, director Vetri Maaran will also receive the National Award for Best Director (Aadukalam), Dhanush, the National Award for Best Actor (Aadukalam), Vairamuthu, National Award for Best Lyricist (Then Merkku Paruva Kaatru), Saranya Ponvannan, National Award for Best Actress (Then Merkku Paruva Kaatru), TE Kishore, National Award for Best Editor (Aadukalam), Dinesh Kumar, National Award for Best Choreographer (Aadukalam) and Jayabalan Special Award for Aadukalam.
The President of India, Patibha Patil will hand over the awards to the winners and Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni will be present at this event.
