When it comes to playing pranks, Santhanam is surely the master and it takes great guts to mock a director in his own film. That’s what Santhanam has done in Neethane En Ponvasantham, we hear. It seems he has done some spoof acts on Gautham’s earlier films like Kaakha Kaakha, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya and Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu in NEP.
However this trend isn’t new to Tamil cinema. In Maattrraan there’s a theater sequence, in which Suriya makes fun of KV Anand’s previous film, Ko and the director had made a scene in Ko too, where Piaa mocks Ayan.
Gautham himself has used this tactic in Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya, where Simbu, in a scene makes fun of Vaaranam Aayiram.
