The Thaandavam team was recently in for a rude shock when they found pirated copies of their movie being sold in various markets in Chennai like Richie Street, Burma Bazaar, Mobile Bazaar, Flower Bazaar and the likes.
These pirated copies were made from a digitally downloaded version from torrent sites like www.tamiltorrent.net and www.thiruttuvcd.com. A video camera was used to record the film inside one of the theaters in which the movie was playing. This has come as a big blow for the theatrical prospects of the film and the team has decided to take up this matter with the Commissioner of Police, Chennai.
The Chief of the South Film Business wing of UTV, Mr.G.Dhananjayan has given a formal written complaint regarding this to the Commissioner and has appealed for immediate action from the anti-piracy department. UTV has also tried to control the digital downloads of the film through an online agency.
