Producer Ramesh, who is producing Osthi, laments that the projector quality in cinema theatres here are of low quality. According to him, this forces the audiences to see low quality pictures despite the best efforts of the filmmakers.
Ramesh says that the audiences may face health issues as their eyes and ears may get affected because of the poor picture quality. This issue will be taken up to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to seek her intervention in ensuring that the projectors used in theatres are as per the prescribed norms, more importantly of the 4K quality. He added that there are rules and regulations that theatres should follow but this is not adhered to nowadays.
Ramesh, in a press release said, “The projectors which are used in many cinema halls are fit for seminars only and not for film projection. But some companies which control the business distribute low quality projectors… We are seriously planning to take the issue to the notice of Chief Minister Ms. J Jayalalithaa. Also, we wonder why industry veterans, especially those in organizations like FICCI, are maintaining silence over the issue.”
