Director Venkat Prabhu has a strong and loyal fan base that started with the cult 'coming of age' cricket film Chennai 600028. While the film’s ending was a reflection of the jovial spirit of the film itself, it always left a door open for a sequel.
Recently when the director was quizzed about the possibility of a sequel to Chennai 28, he responded that the cast of the original film namely Jai, Shiva and Premgi have all become expensive stars now and he quipped that affording all of them for the film will be a costly affair. While Venkat Prabhu’s response might have been entirely light-hearted, the possibility is still open ended like the movie’s climax.
