Director Vadivudayan and heroine Anjali
ran into trouble when some miscreants
resorted to violence during the shooting
of Thambi Vettothi Sundaram as it is based
on the real-life character by the same
name. The agitators felt that the film
would tarnish the image of Thambi Vettothi
Sundaram who belonged to the Nadar community.
Reacting to this, a letter from the Nadar
Sangam in Kumari District states that
violence in all forms in deplorable and
the agitators should be condemned for
it. It furthered that Vadivudayan should
not depict Thambi Vettothi Sundaram’s
life in a bad light and such scenes, if
any, must be deleted.
The letter also requests the Nadar community
to maintain calm and peace and wait until
the film is released to judge the director’s
intentions.
