The
audio launch of Eesan took place as planned
at Sathyam Cinemas on November 19th, 2010
with the screening of two songs – a
disco and a gana song as well as the trailer.
It was earlier announced that Rama Narayanan,
Bala and Ameer from the Tamil film industry,
Telugu director Thiruvikram, Malayalam filmmaker
Renjith, Kannada director Yograj Bhat and
Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap would participate
in this event.
All the directors, except Thiruvikram made
it to the venue as his flight was delayed.
Speaking at this event, Yograj Bhatt said
that he is happy to be a part of such an audio
launch. Equating each of the directors present
on the dais to that of the Indian cricketers,
he said that Bala can be termed as Sachin
Tendulkar in the film industry as he has proved
to be an all rounder. Bhatt also compared
other directors to Dravid, Dhoni etc. He likened
himself to Harbhajan Singh which received
applause from the audience.
Renjith said that the Malayalam film industry
is studying the Tamil film industry and learning
a lot from it.
Anurag Kashyap revealed that he requested
a DVD of Subramaniapuram as he has drawn inspiration
from that film. He added that directors like
Sasi Kumar, Bala and Ameer impress him.
In an interesting development, Ameer had
to persuade the legendary director K Balachander
to come on stage. KB had extracted a promise
from Sasi Kumar before arriving at the venue
that he wanted to watch the audio launch from
the audiences’ gallery, as going on
stage makes him feel imprisoned. To this,
Ameer said that promises are meant to be broken
and had KB sir on the dais.
Talking about the latest trend in Kollywood
films – kuthu songs – Ameer said
that Bala and he did not want to glorify kuthu
songs in their films but Sasi is including
them for commercial success.
When his turn to take on the mike came, director
K Balachandar said that Ameer has deceived
him by having him break the promise. The director
said that he is jealous of the current breed
of directors when he thinks why such ideas,
which are followed now, did not occur to him
10 years ago. KB said that many young directors
ask to be trained under him for at least ten
days but it should be the other way round
as he has a lot to learn from the youngsters.
He pointed out that he wants to compete with
the current generation in filmmaking but age
does not permit him anymore.
