Long before it became the fad it is today, director Sathish Kaushik recognized the potential of Tamil films for remakes. He had remade Bala's Sethu with Salman Khan and Bhoomika as Tere Naam and the film became a huge success and resurrected Salman's career. Now the director wants to remake Bala's 2003 film Pithamagan with Vikram and Suriya, .
The director thinks Salman is perfect for Vikram's National award winning role although he is yet to approach the superstar. Sathish Kaushik also plans to request Bala to join the team as he has nothing but respect and admiration for Bala's work and is positive that Bala's contribution will be invaluable in making the Hindi remake a big success.
