Actor R Parthiban’s charity trust, Manithaneya Mandram conducted a blood donation and organ donation camp yesterday in the city. The trust also presented their annual “Siranda Manithaneyan” award to a commoner named Suresh from Ernakulam. High court judge Mr. Chandra presented the award.
Mr. Suresh, a lottery ticket seller from Ernakulam was presented the award for his honesty. Suresh had sold a lottery ticket to a man named Iyyappan. But Iyyappan could not afford Rs. 250, which was the cost of the ticket. But still Suresh gave away the ticket. Next day, the ticket he had sold to Iyyappan won Rs 1 Crore. Iyyappan, although asked Suresh to keep the prize money, the lottery seller asked only for Rs.250, Iyyappan owed him. This incident, Parthiban said, touched his heart.
The trust gave Rs.1 lakh to Suresh and actor Vivek, who was present there donated Rs.50,000 towards the education of Suresh’s children. Actor/director K Bhagyaraj, Prasanna and Rohini were also present at the event.
