Things are taking an ugly turn in the face off between Ameer and Studio Green’s Gnanavel Raja. The issue goes all the way back to Paruthiveeran and the alleged non-payment of royalty by the producer to Ameer. The crescendo of the dispute was seen a few days back in Chennai when unit members, all affiliated to FEFSI, refused to cooperate with the shooting of Karthi’s Alex Pandian, which is also being produced by Studio Green. Shooting was disrupted on at least a couple of days due to this. It was alleged that Ameer was behind this non-cooperation of the unit members.
Following these problems, the shooting of Alex Pandian was shifted to Andhra Pradesh hoping that the problems would not continue. However, the crew has extended their non-cooperation here too, complaining that the food served on the sets was of poor quality. Ameer is suspected to be involved in this incident as well. This suspicion has gained strength from the fact that Ameer was a strong supporter of all FEFSI’s demands during the recent strike over a revised wage structure.
Following this, the Producer’s Council has got together with the Distributors and Exhibitors Associations. They have decided that strong action is needed in this case. Thus the Distributors and Exhibitors Associations have decided not to extend any cooperation to Ameer’s films until this issue is amicably settled. As of now, this means that Ameer’s upcoming film Aadibhagavan staarring Jeyam Ravi will not be able to make it to theatres. Further developments, on this dispute that has gone from bad to worse, are awaited.
